Sandspur Bulldogs ***Salty's upcoming litter...

Going to document Salty's upcoming litter.  A little intro is need I guess...

Salty is a 7/8th (English) Bulldog and has 1/8th Boxer in there too.  She was born on 7/3/09 and she was born here at my home.  We raise some dogs...all bullies.  We have 9 dogs currently but one is an Australian Cattle Dog.  (just to shake things up)
 Salty....
She has had a few litters, maybe 3 and is bred to whelp again this September.  I will try to keep this updated with current pictures and document the entire birthing process, care and what goes into the raising of some of our puppies here at Sandspur Bulldogs so you can see what it takes.

We started off with one dog years ago.  She was a half Boxer half Bulldog, white with big red spots and we named her Sugar.

We had her for a few years and bred her to an AKC Bulldog, George.  He's long gone now but from that breeding we got a litter and kept a female naming her Spicey.  She's a silly, adventurous, quite fearless bulldog....

Spicey...she is almost 8 years old, retired from puppy-raising, sleeping/snoring here in the kitchen right now.

From Spicey came Salty ~  her dad was a big spotted AKC Bulldog ...you can see the same face as her dad on her, especially the big droopy chops!

She was a lovely puppy....
there on the far left nursing

~still sleeps with her Mom.
Spicey had some wonderful pups and we still have her other daughter, Paprika...she too is retired as of last year.  She had an emergency cesarean section and then 2 days later an emergency spay and luckily a female who had whelped 3 days later was able to take over her litter and Paprika recovered nicely without puppies to nurse.
Papi

the only water-loving dog so far, Paprika
So that's Salty's and her immediate family's history!  A quick meeting of the other dogs would be ok ...since there's not too much going on with Salty right now.

Gypsy is the Cattle dog or Blue Heeler.

Then there is Lily, she was a pick of the litter from a breeding with our male, Maximus.  She is a fabulous, highly motivated and smart girl.  She is a Victorian Bulldog and she has a different energy level than most and would be great for obedience training this fall.

Vanilla is Salty's last pup born last year...she is a clown and goofy most of the time.  She and Paprika are best friends and spend most of their time together despite the age difference.

Kava's Big Boom "Boomer" is the last pup born here.  Out of Maximus Kava Lava, sired by Smith's Just In Time.  Big lazy bones boy!

How can you resist those sweet dotty eyes....

The two old males here, both about 5 years each are Maximus Destruction "Max" and Smith's Just In Time "Juice".  We used both males to breed Salty.

So that's the pack.  All 9!

UPDATE: Smith's Just In Time....R.I.P.  "Juice"....buried next to Sugar in the pasture.  While Salty had yet to whelp we lost him.  Hope he has fathered at least one puppy in this litter.
