Teeth, walking and fun

So now the boys have teeth!  I've been feeling in their mouth and could feel ridges but finally they have a full mouthful of needles.  They are eating canned food (no grain) from my fingers twice a day and they really love it.   I put these pink and spotted (snakes?) in with them this morning and they started dragging them around and it was so funny....I know you will get a kick out of it when you watch them.

Things are starting to happen

The boys are starting to walk !  They are teetering around the "pool" and beginning to bark and growl at each other.  Today I am pretty sure I saw one turning to bite the other in some play behavior... They are indescribably cute and I am drawn to kiss and cuddle them each time I am near.

Getting bigger

So the little pups almost have their eyes open.  They wiggle so much but I tried to get some up close photos anyway so you can see their eyes peeping...

You can see it on little Boom Boom best

The spotted one's eye patches are too dark to see his eyes.

Two little pups doing ver well...fat tummies on both are a sign they are thriving!

They ARE coming now...

We So the first pup came at about 430 pm.  No real hard pushing involved!
He was difficult to bring around...a little blue but after a bunch of rubbing & suctioning his mouth & nose finally he started panting with his tongue out...
Crazy how they can raise their blood oxygen quickly at this age by doing that.  He was very slow to suckle but once he did in just a few minutes after I squeezed the first milk into his mouth he was ready to get on a teat on his own.
Second pup came about 5:15.  Pure white "little Boomer"....I haven't even checked if it was a boy!  (it is)
Third pup came quickly but with a lot of fluid...and after trying to get him to breathe for a few seconds I could tell it was a stillbirth.  Fourth, same thing only probably died yesterday & the other likely 2 days earlier.  Both were beautifully spotted.

Like his dad he wasted no time getting on to eat.

Dinner in the bathroom....eating in here and waiting on the next pups!

A fifth puppy is born dead and after 12 minutes I just let him be.
Poor little one never took one breath even with mouth to nose work, nothing.
A couple of hours have passed and Salty is doing well thankfully but we have no more live births other than the two... They are aggressively nursing.  She has given birth to 2 live, 4 stillborn puppies and 3 mummified ones (dead over a few days) but we are thankful for a healthy mom & two lovely babies!

Well its now about 12:06 and I am up taking a break from watching pups to blog again....it will be a long night up watching them nurse and making sure Salty gets along ok.  She ate a little canned food and finally drank some water, she pushes a little here and there but probably just some small contractions as puppies nurse now.  Will take her temperature in the AM to watch for infection.  Nite...

Today (maybe) is the day!

Salty didn't eat this morning & you can see she is panting off and on so probably labor has started!  Going to set up the pool in a few hours.

What's up NOW??

So its been a while since the puppies left.  I have heard from some and they are doing great!  We kept one-- "Gingerbread" but we call her "Little".

Lily and Boomer --they have grown up too....

Boomer  is expecting his first litter by Salty....she is due at the beginning of April.  I will again follow her litter here so STAY TUNED!
